Final Portrait:
For my final task, I have produced a self portrait. For this piece, I have used coloured pencils. When creating my portrait, I have considered the techniques that I have learnt from previous lessons. The main techniques that I have used within my work are: light and shadow, pattern and colour.

I have applied the uses of light and shadow by using different hues of blue coloured pencils. Using this medium has allowed me to present the form of light and shadow into shapes. I believe that using this technique has been useful because it adds the uses of  realism and tone. I think that I could of improved my portrait by adding more uses of light and shadow on the face.

The second technique that I have used is pattern. I have applied this technique to my work so I could continue adding the uses of mark making. Using pattern has made my portrait successful as I've been able to add the elements of texture. For example, I have drawn a number of short lines for the mirror and cushion so you can visually see the texture of these objects. Pattern can also make certain elements more interesting. For example, when making a background.

Finally, the last technique that I have used within this piece is colour. Using colour within my work has helped me to apply more uses of tone. Also, it has helped me to think about what colours work well together. I decided to use the colour scheme of blues and pinks. I decided to use these colour so I could harmonize together cool and warmer tones.

When creating my self portrait, I considered revealing my personality based on my clothing and interests. I have drawn myself wearing earphones as my interest is listening to music.

I enjoyed creating this piece of work as I was able to practise using different techniques. I think that my portrait could of been improved by experimenting with more than one medium.
