Scene Drawing:

For this lesson, I learnt about scene drawing and how drawing from different viewpoints and angles can be important and effective. My first task was to draw a room in my home. When drawing my chosen room, I considered drawing from different angles so that my piece of work would look more 3 dimensional and realistic. To create this piece of work, I used pen. I believe that using pen for this piece has made my work successful because I was able to add further details to objects. To add these further details, I used the techniques of cross hatching. When adding line work for detail, I applied different amounts of pressure to suggest the uses of tone. To improve this piece of work, I think I could of tried using a variety of materials and not just pen.

To extend my understanding on how to make a scene drawing effective, I used a frame. This frame is useful because it allows you to only view the important elements that you need within your drawing. I believe that using the frame helped because I was able to focus on one particular part of the room. To draw what I needed, I used a pen to draw over a plastic wallet. After drawing the basic shapes in, I began to add in some line work to imply tone.

After finishing my drawing on the plastic wallet, I used the drawing to produce a final outcome in my sketchbook. I like this drawing because the design is much simpler compared to the first drawing I did of the room. I was able to add in more detail on objects such as the mirror, which I believe is successful because it shows the uses of tone and texture. To make my drawing visually interesting, I added in hints of colour on the ornaments that are on the shelf. By doing this, I think it makes viewers drawn towards the drawing because the colour stands out within the white background.

  1. nice drawing all the way through here, with economic linework and keen observation. Adding colour to the last image was a fantastic touch!
