For this piece of work, I was given the task to produce 6 silhouettes. I believe that this lesson was useful because it has helped me to extend my skills on drawing the human body whilst focusing on how to make my drawings more visually interesting.
For my next pieces of work, I have started to add more detail to certain elements such as the clothing. To add more details, I used a fine liner to draw in the creases on the shirt. I think that these two drawings are successful because they show the uses of negative spacing as there is no outline around the shirt.
For my last pieces of work, I have continued to think about form and shape. But I have extended these drawings by adding a background. I think that backgrounds can be effective because they can reveal the mood of a certain piece. However, to make the backgrounds even more effective, I believe that I could of added a pattern to make it look more visually interesting.
Overall, I think that my drawings are successful because I have tried using more than one material. I used charcoal, pastel, pencil and fine liner. Yet, to improve my work, I could tried experimenting more with different materials for each piece. Also, I could of made my work more successful by experimenting digitally.
For my last Silhouette piece, I have recently developed it by adding a background. For this background, I decided to create it digitally. I have done this because the rest of work has been done traditionally so I wanted to show some variation. I think that my piece of work is successful as I have experimented traditionally and digitally. Also, I think this piece is successful as I've added patterns to the background to make it more interesting. However, the disadvantage to this background is that the sleeves on the figure no longer suggest the uses of negative spacing.
